70.3 Qualifying Slots

Ironman 70.3 Boise, Ironman 70.3 Kansas and Ironman 70.3 Syracuse, all held in June, will feature significantly greater numbers of age-group qualifying slots for the Ironman World Championship 70.3 event, to be held at Lake Las Vegas on Sept. Athletes MUST claim their slot in-person at the qualifying race during the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship Slot Allocation and Roll-down Ceremony. Please check the event schedule for time and location of the ceremony.

IRONMAN 70.3 WEYMOUTH SECURES ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING SLOTS

IRONMAN are delighted to confirm that IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth has been chosen as one of only two events in Europe to receive 25 additional qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, South Africa.

Taking place on Sunday 17th September, IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth will be the last event on the 2017 UK & Ireland calendar. There will now be a total of 75 qualifying slots available for age group athletes looking to qualify for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.

The allocation follows the cancellation of IRONMAN 70.3 Budapest and the second event to also receive 25 qualifying slots, in addition to IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth, is IRONMAN 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria (27th August).

The provisional breakdown of the 75 slots now available at IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth can be found HERE

Since IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth made its debut on the IRONMAN UK calendar in 2016 its success has quickly cemented the event as a ‘must do’ race amongst athletes and its 2,800 entries made it the largest IRONMAN staged in the UK.

Furthermore its stunning almost Mediterranean sea setting with Jurassic coast backdrop, earned the event the accolade of top 10 ‘Best Overall Swim’ category as voted by over 50,000 athletes globally across all 70.3 events.

Entries are still open for athletes looking to be part of the second annual IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth on Sunday 17th September 2017.

Staged at this award winning seaside resort on England’s South coast, the event starts with a 1.2 mile swim in Weymouth Bay which provides spectacular views of the bay and coastline. Athletes then embark on a 56 mile loop bike course on fully closed roads, which combines some challenging hills and lovely long descents through the Dorset countryside and quintessential English villages before heading back into the seaside town of Weymouth.

From here, the final 13.1 mile half marathon incorporates a super spectator friendly multi lap run around the town, harbour and historic seafront enabling thousands of crowds and supporters to cheer and spur the competitors all the way to the finish line.

Alan Rose, Race Director of IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth said: “It is fantastic to see 70.3 Weymouth being recognised as a key contender on the EMEA IRONMAN event calendar and we are delighted for our athletes that the event has been awarded additional qualification slots. We have seen a great response from athletes wanting to take part in 70.3 Weymouth 2017 and very much hope competitors will continue to come and take part in this ‘must do’ event on the South Coast.”
